About the show

Poignant dance-theatre production by Apsaras Dance Company that brings to life the deeply human stories of refugees. Inspired by Artistic Director Aravinth Kumarasamy’s own experiences, it explores displacement, identity and resilience through a compelling blend of Bharatanatyam, theatre and poetry. Drawing on works of celebrated Tamil poets and voices of refugee youth, Agathi captures the emotional turmoil, stigma and hope that define the refugee journey. Reimagined in collaboration with Ivan Heng, this powerful work challenges perceptions and invites audiences to see beyond headlines, offering a moving call for empathy, understanding and shared humanity.
